An anti-aging and restorative medical treatment using a dermaroller or dermapen, creates a multitude of  tiny puncture wounds to the dermis which induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. DOWNTIME:

Day 1: Immediately after treatment, you will feel heat, there will be some redness and you may have slight puffiness. This will then ease after an hour or so and can be likened to deep sunburn.

Day 2: A light pink colour persists like moderate sunburn. Minimal swelling may be noticeable, but this will subside as the day goes on.

Day 3: Skin may be slightly pink and swelling will have subsided.

On subsequent days, the skin may feel tight and dry. Use plenty of moisturiser. It is not unusual for the skin to be itchy. Your normal skin routine can be introduced after day 3.

Do not introduce any active products (such as Retinol or  Gycolics for at least a week.

 While used as an anti-aging skin treatment, microneedling may also be used as a method of  treatment for hair loss. There's even evidence that it can help to thicken thinning hair and encourage new hair growth, as seen in androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness.
